Neighborhoods Rise began as a community-based nonprofit organization committed to strengthening neighborhoods through civic engagement, mutual aid, and community service. As the organization evolved, it expanded its mission to include storytelling and artist development, recognizing that theater has the power to bring people together, foster understanding, and reflect the lived experiences of the communities we serve.

founder
Lewis Myers is a playwright, community organizer, and political strategist whose work explores themes of work, family, power, identity, and belonging. After decades in public service and advocacy, he founded Neighborhoods Rise Theater Company to support the creation of original theatrical works and the artists who bring them to life.
